Our Story

Walter Sweeney founded Syracuse Office Environments in 1958 and placed the highest value on building relationships with his customers. More than 50 years later, Walter’s three sons lead the firm under the same philosophy that has built a roster of high-profile clients selling office furniture to the Syracuse area and beyond.

Syracuse Office Environments President Vincent P. Sweeney and Executive Vice President David Sweeney joined the company in the early 1980s, bringing with them financial and sales backgrounds. Their brother Kevin Sweeney joined them in the late 1980s after gaining experience in the office furniture business.

Syracuse Office Environments moved into a former Erie Canal warehouse located at modern-day 375 Erie Blvd. in 1985. Always adapting to changing office solution trends, the Sweeneys have consistently renovated and updated the historic structure that dates back to the 1850s.

As a longtime Syracuse company, SOE and the Sweeney family are involved in several community organizations and support many local causes. Company leadership has served on the boards of various area nonprofits and SOE remains committed to giving back to the community.
